ONE Prayer Brainstorm: Reminder Ideas

in

During Sunday’s discussion, We brain-stormed some ideas of how to encourage The Journey community to unite in ONE Heart and ONE Spirit in Prayer like Jesus prayed for in John 17.

Posted below are a few of the ideas - specifically about how to REMIND people to pray during the week. Please look at this list and “add” to each idea of how it might work…and what would work for you personally.
See next page:

Hopefully some of these ideas will be supported and developed enough to get started by Journey people.

Reminders:
-use sticky notes or “dots” as visual reminders to pray
-give out those rubber wrist bands - write ONEPrayer on them
-use all church email to remind people to pray
-Form Prayer Partners
-Create a Prayer Wall (on the website) or on a physical wall at Pioneer

What would work for you?

Praying John 17

How about breaking John 17 up into chunks, either week-sized or day-sized? Then everyone prays them wherever they are — kind of like “praying the hours”. (See http://www.explorefaith.org/prayer/fixed/)

Anyone want to meet for a prayer and pie session?

Signals

I have an intermittent habit of prayer that involves uttering a specific, predetermined “mantra” whenever I perform a certain perfunctory act. For example, if I am needing a greater awareness of God’s presence, I might say, “You are with me, Thank you” And I would say this each time I wash my hands or sip from a cup sit down. This practice is something my spiritual mentor taught me after she had me read Practicing the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence.
